The present proposal concerns the renovation of a small two-storey, stone building, located in one of the most privileged places in Plaka Elounda, opposite Spinalonga and intended for a holiday home. The two levels of the building have separate accesses and do not communicate internally. The main commitment was to maintain the facades and the volume of the building. The main requirements of the owner were the functional integration of the ground floor with the first floor and the response to the modern needs of a holiday home. The renovation proposal was based on the following options:
Location of the common functions on the first floor with access either internally or externally from an existing staircase.
Location of the private section on the ground floor with three access possibilities, from the main coastal road, from the internal staircase and from the opening of an external door on the west side of the building that communicates with an internal private courtyard.
Configuration of the two levels with the logic of “open spaces” and the separation of functions, with functional placement of furniture.
